Description

Freedom camping permitted in certified self contained vehicles only. Camping in tents and non-self contained vehicles is NOT permitted but can at DOC campsite called Lake Poaka (15kms towards Twizel). All Freedom Camping within council sites throughout the MacKenzie District requires vehicles to be certified self-contained. Please be a responsible camper by: * Not camping on private land * Leaving your camp site(s) in a clean and tidy state * Disposing of all toilet and waste water at a Council approved dump station (located in Fairlie, Lake Tekapo and Twizel) * Disposing of all other refuse in approved bags and at approved locations * Adhere to the total fire ban rule * Keep dogs under control at all times
