Description
Freedom Camping on DOC land within the Catlins Head Recreation Reserve. Camping is restricted to Self Contained vehicles only.
The duration of a stay may be no more than 4 nights in any single calendar month.
The hours of use are restricted to the period from 5.00 pm to 9.00 am the following day.
The restrictions apply from 2 October to 31 March in the following year, inclusive.
Camping is prohibited from April 1st through to October 1st.
Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace.

Confirmed that it is DOC property and freedom camping is allowed for self-contained vehicles, however, the farmer that owns the adjacent property has placed no camping signs, so it just depends on whether you feel comfortable staying.

No camping signs everywhere. Shame. Looks like a nice spot.. could easily have a self contained area designated for a donation.

There were legit no camping signs all around so we called DOC and they said freedom camping is no longer allowed here.
