Time: 6 hr return. Distance: 5 km. This is the fastest way to the bush line from Reefton. From a carpark beside the Upper Inangahua Bridge, there is a very steep two hour climb to the bushline on a well-formed route. It is another hour along the right-hand ridge to the pyramid-shaped peak of 1587m Mt Haast which provides spectacular views of nearby glacial valleys and the Main Divide.

I really enjoyed this walk. It took me one hour to the bushline and another hour to the summit. So in total it took me around 4 hours. I would say I'm medium fit. It's steep all the way up and gets even steeper after the bushline. It's quite challenging but not too hard. The views are totally stunning, 360 degrees on the summit. It's well marked.
