We ask if we can have shower if we don't stay : not possible

The facilities at this campsite are very good because the buildings used to be a government works depot. Top notch kitchen and very large lounge. Toilets and showers are very clean and modern and showers free. 5 mins for shower is quite adequate. I actually found the owners to be very pleasant. Small supermarket 2 mins walk away in village. However, because the village is located in flat wetlands at the mouth of the river, it is cursed with masses of really viscous various flying insects both day and night. Not possible to sit outside and constant battle to keep bugs out of van. The village itself has little to offer except a pub and helicopter flights. Possibly better in cooler months when bugs less active.

We spent one night in a double room (35$ per person per night). Wasn't too expensive when we saw the prices in the others motels/camps in Haast... It's clean everywhere, huge lounge/kitchen area with lot of facilities and pretty lovely place to rest while you can charge your stuffs. The lady at the reception was not too welcoming but she was okay, I've seen worst! Hot showers 5$/5minutes, check out 10am.
