Nice wee spot to camp up for the night with a great view of the beach out the back window. No one came round to bother us. Toilet is about 5 minutes walk towards the town. Rubbish & recycling bins in the car park.

Nice and close to whale watching. Stayed at each freedom camp in Kaikoura over the past week. No one came by as it was winter but town was dead. Shops don't open up until after 8am. Kids were throwing rocks at campers at night so we called the police and they escorted the boys home. Overall we use to come here ten years ago and it was so nice. The council has really ruined as they claim a backpacker shit outside the van. We find this story so funny as it's the typical excuse of why freedom camps are being shut. While in Kaikoura we picked up more trash left by locals than campers. Take a look in the mirror and maybe stop blaming the visitors who bring money to the council and work on your own issues.
