Description
The Royal Mail Hotel have 4 en-suite units available and also offer free overnight camping to patrons (vehicles only - no tents). Register at the bar if you wish to stay. A sink and toilet are available and left open at night.
First built around 1870 on Clements Road and when the road was put through to Ross in 1878 the Woodstock Hotel was jacked up and then rolled on empty beer barrels and pulled by horses 200 yards up the hill to its present site. Gaylor's Hotel was now on the main road and a stopping place for the mail coaches to Ross so a new name seemed more appropriate The Royal Mail Hotel.

Awesome spot to stay as the pubs really nice. Had an awesome dinner and few nice beers. 2 for 1 meals and both were tasty. Great service and everyone was really friendly. Left the toilets open for us and a sink to do washing up in. Then went to the hokitika gorge the next morning. Worked out perfectly! Cheers guys

Yeah sick spot for couple nights, pretty stoked on location close to town. Register at the pub before jumping into bed if the pub is open. Had couple beers there too. Live music some nights there too ! And it's free too! Yeww

Great spot to stay nearby Hokitika, sc and no sc cars allowed . Also saw some tents. You just have to register at the bar first. Clean toilets all night. Tuesday 2x1 meals and good beer!
