A 'standard' issue DOC campsite. Location wise it's actually in a quite picturesque river flat framed by forrest, mountains, snow capped peaks and waterfalls. Seeing these in the cloud or rain is another story. Want something to do? Hike river bed downstream from the bridge.on true right. Take repellent. Water (boil), three flush toilets, a picnic/cooking open sided shelter, a 5min bush walk, and plenty of grassy, flat, sheltered areas for tents. No cell reception despite the road sign and presence of a microcell tower. Just ignore those. The Mobile Black Spot Fund must have been embezzled here.

Compared to the other DOC camps between Haast and Wanaka, I would not stay here. It's a functional camp, provides everything you need for cheap. However boundary Creek and Cameron Flat offer nicer views at a similar price. More on Instagram @projektneuseeland So my recommendation, go to the others unless you just wanna sleep or do some hikes around here.

Isn't it rubbish to see some people, locals, kiwis not abiding by the rules and bringing dogs into places you're not allowed and yet moaning about tourists, following the rules! Anyway! Stayed here last night, lots of spaces to choose from, beautiful nature walk, beautiful stream and the cicadas are loud and awesome!! FYI- There is no phone signal here, though the signs en route state there is, we spoke to someone from DOC and the satellite thing doesn't work. Keep to clean! Keep following the rules fellow travellers. Happy and safe travels. @saltyskin
