Great spot in a quiet friendly town. Walking distance to shop and food, also drinking water available with a hose. Catlins inn offers $5 hot shower and toilets.

Just know your rights as a freedom camper. I got harassed by the lady doc worker. She visits the place twice a night. My reggo was expired by 2 days. She banged on my window, threatened to have a police officer give me a ticket. Then just kept me in an uncomfortable intimidating, futile conversation asking me where I was going the next day. Pretty sure she went over board and likes to intimidate young foreign travellers. I don't even think you can get a ticket for a first warning of expired reggo of 2 days. She threatened to get a cop, but it was late and the town is tiny. She was so angry.
