Description
You can generally freedom camp throughout the Waimakariri District on gravelled or sealed Council land set aside for parking. Look out for the prohibited zones at Waikuku Beach.
The Ohoka Domain features an off-street parking area, toilets, picnic facilities and a playground.
Waimakariri is committed to sustainability and asks all visitors to help protect our beautiful natural environment. Freedom campers are asked to assist by:
removing all rubbish, solid or liquid waste from the camping site when leaving.
disposing of rubbish, recycling and waste at approved sites.
using appropriate toileting facilities.
ensuring that all pets are appropriately controlled.
abiding by all Council bylaws including barbecue use, camp fires, noise and animal control.
Lighting fires is not allowed.
Ohoka Stream Historic Walk - 40 minutes return.
Take a pleasant wander along the Ohoka Stream and around the historic Ohoka township. Discover the history of this once bustling village based around flax mills and the railway line to Christchurch.

Spacious clean toilets with sinks, nice grassy field in front. Children's playground on the side and garden nearby, so people during the day. Working electric grill. By the street, but quiet at night.

Nice free campground, beautiful green and peaceful field. Good toilets.

Good spot , stayed here for three nights. Friday mornings there is a farmer's market during summer so woke up early to move (poster asking campers to move before 7) great little market. Saturday night did get a few bangs on the van at 10pm then again 1am.... kids being kids so moved to the spot down the road
