We weren't planning on camping here as just wanting to do the walk to Mount Sunday but wanted to have a more recent review for others.... There's no information about camping here on signage but there is a new long drop toilet. Nice quiet area with incredible surrounds.

First to write a comment! Stayed here last night, were the only ones and it was lovely and quiet. In the day, people come and go to do the Mount Sunday (Edoras) walk, which we did twice, second time early in the morning, would highly recommend. But before dark everyone's gone and all you can hear are birds. Must be self-contained, no facilities and no signal. The long, unsealed road in is a pain, we cautiously didn't go over 25km the whole way, but it's worth it. What an awesome place to camp. Keep it clean! Keep it free! ig @saltyskin

The freecamp itself is just a carpark but the surroundings are amazing. You have a view of Mount Sunday and valley from freecamp. Spend 2 nights here, we were alone the 2 nights. Also great spot for stargazing if no clouds. Very quiet, clean long drop toilet, no cell reception. Highly recommanded !
