Description

This is a serviced 14-bunk hut in the Mackenzie Country and Waitaki area. Fees apply. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Facilities include cooking, heating, lighting, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use). This hut is owned by the Mackenzie Alpine Trust Lake Tekapo. A recommended donation of $10 can be left in the iron post outside the hut. Dogs are not allowed in the hut but can be kept outside. Dogs are allowed in the area but must be under control. Dogs should be kept on a lead at all times in riverbed areas and wetlands between the months of August and the end of February, because of nesting birdlife.
