Description
This is a standard six-bunk hut located in Takitimu Conservation Area in the Southland area. Fees apply. Bookings not required - first come, first served.
Facilities include heating, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water from a stream.
Time from nearest hut: Becketts Hut: 3 hr 30 min
Tracks to the hut: Takitimu Mountains tracks and routes.
Easy walk from road end: Under 1 hour.
Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night's stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass that gives unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 6 or 12-month period.

Great hut, can drive up to the hut with a 2WD just fine. Water from a stream so we just drove some in since there is farm land the whole way up to the hut. Not a bad long drop. Visited by a tiny mouse in the night trying to get into our sealed trash so we hung it from the wire from the ceiling. There is a picnic table. Also only 5km up to Princhester Saddle
