Grey District Council advice: This site is legal for Certified self-contained vehicles only. Council prefer campers use their designated site (Iveagh Bay) but do allow Certified vehicles in other places as long as they are not in sites designated as prohibited sites.

http://www.greydc.govt.nz/our-district/freedom-camping/InTheGreyDistrict/Pages/default.aspx advice = if you are visiting Lake Brunner we would like you to use the camping site at Iveagh Bay.

Was pretty nice, although certainly flooded with sandflies but beautiful lake and nice trail nearby. Though when it was dark some creepy guy with nothing better to do with a Saturday night rolled up on us in his little red truck and took pictures of our car/us, thought that was very intrusive/strange/overstepping his boundaries. Then he came back early in the morning but didn't have the nerve to take any photos in the daylight, I think it was the neighbor across the street, maybe he needs a hobby or something. But other than that stalkerish perv I though the setting was quite beautiful and relatively absent of trash. No services though but that's why it's SC only
