Description
Camp in the lower reaches of the Hawdon Valley on the grassy flats. 20 non-powered/tent sites. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Pay cash on arrival at the self-registration stand at the campsite.
During winter this alpine area may be covered in snow, making access difficult.
Fires are not permitted at any time.
There are walks from here along the Hawdon River.
No dogs.

Long gravel road, very bumpy, just need to ease through carefully if in a motor home. Large site with nice views. Patrolled by rangers.

The gravel road is open and pretty good, I think most normal cars or vans wouldn't have difficulties. The campsite has a lot of space. Simple, cleanish drop toilet with paper. Seemed very quiet. It is a paid campsite, I don't know the price, I didn't sleep there. But I definitely would if I was in the area again.
