Beautiful 'standard' DOC campsite right on the beach. So in addition to the wild, windswept pebble west coast beach (sunsets ) you have flush toilets, water (boil), a small open sided cooking shelter and tracks to a bunch of historic sites inland and along the coast. Adequate grass area for tents next to scrub which will provide some shelter from the prevailing westerly winds. Gravel area is level with good turning access. There is however little shelter from the sun for either tents or cars/vans. There just aren't the trees to provide overhead shelter. The road in through forest is narrow, gravel, highly cambered, with drop offs. It's fine, just take your time and go slow, kept well left, expect cars around corners, and enjoy it - that section is 12km. The 10km before that is sealed

Beautiful campsite with lots of day walk options! BEWARE OF THE KEAAAAA! One of them left someone's chewed up shoe outside our car door this morning

Lovely little campsite with a beautiful beach and forest road leading to it. Had a bit of a weird experience though, when we got up in the morning someone had placed a ring of cat food sachets around each of the vans present? Can't wrap my head around that one... Saw kea in the forest on our way out!
