Description

Freedom camping on DOC land at the Clifden Suspension Bridge car park, near the Waiau River. This suspension bridge was an important transport link in what was a relatively remote part of Southland. Flushing toilet facilities are available. There is a gravel area for vans and a grassed area for tents. Be responsible with your waste. Carry in, carry out. Leave no trace.

No view but really quiet and big freecamp. 4 clean flushing toilet, no morning roaster today, not windy. Recommended for an overnight.

Perfect stopover on the road. It's just a big gravel carpark with some clean toilets but it does exactly what it's supposed to. The bridge is pretty cool for a quick look too. There was a big storm along the coast when I was here so I spent a pleasant night with my feet up. Chillaxing
