As others said the access road isn't the easiest - but if you can do gravel you should be fine. Both toilets were in a bit of rough state, water requires boiling, and no reception. But given how busy all other campgrounds are for the festival in Takaka this one was nice and quiet, and reasonably priced. Would go back again if we are in the area.

For those unsure about the access road. We drove in a Toyota Hiace campervan (no high top). If you are comfortable with your vehicle (reverse and starting from standstill on a slope, know the width) and an experienced driver, it's good to drive in good conditions in daylight. Just watch your speed, especially at corners and downhill. Prepare to pass others at inconvenient places are having to reverse a few meters or more. If inexperienced, at night, or bad conditions, seriously reconsider another campground. With larger campers, definately don't try it. There's sections where you can't pass and there will be other traffic in the opposite direction. Unsealed road is mostly the same condition as the first part you can see from the sealed section. It doesn't get much worse then that.

Great place, walks to the hole and lookout definitely recommended (~2hr total if you want to do both). Lots of space and two ok toilets. Lots of bees, flies and arrogant weka though. Would recommend.
