Description
Freedom camping for certified self contained vehicles at Ashley Rakahuri Regional Park.
Camping is prohibited behind locked park gates. All campers are required to be self-contained. Littering or causing damage to surroundings is prohibited in all park areas.
Lighting fires is not allowed. Please use a gas barbeque for all cooking unless you are in licensed holiday parks.
Waimakariri is committed to sustainability and asks all visitors to help protect our beautiful natural environment. Freedom campers are asked to assist by:
removing all rubbish, solid or liquid waste from the camping site when leaving
disposing of rubbish, recycling and waste at approved sites
using appropriate toileting facilities
ensuring that all pets are appropriately controlled
abiding by all Council bylaws including barbecue use, camp fires, noise and animal control.

Lovely spot and the road is far enough away to sleep

Great spot to camp. Fishing and lil trails. Uummm. Tiolets kinda suck at their jobs. As in they flush but poop dont go down. Ive been here 2 days and I've seen others poop left in there and my own poo left behind while tiolet paper gets sucks down no prob. Walked out after morning poo not going down and had to look the cleaning lady right in the eyeballs after leaving a not so great surprise behind. (My poop)

Arrived close to dark and parked in the smallish carpark beside the toilets. Six other large RV style campers and little old me filled the space. I found the road quite busy and loud - it's quite close by. Have stayed in worse places though!
