Waterfall Walk

Point of Interest

4.5 from 2 users.

South Island.

Not signposted, look out for a small parking Bay on the left when travelling west. Track is not maintained and crosses a small stream several times to get to the base of the falls. A fun 30 min return walk.

The track was damaged from a small landslide so couldn't make it to the waterfall.

Thanks for this point of interest, found it easy. For a New Zealand bush walk I would have said it was reasonably maintained with steps cut and the trail clear to follow. I was concerned about having to cross the stream but needn't have been, kept dry get the whole way (after rain probably a completely different story). I will add photos showing the state of the track and falls. The walk is pleasant and not arduous (step carefully crossing stream), I love the ferns at side of track, felt very Jurassic Park-ish. The falls was lovely to sit and chill to. There is the smells of fresh wet forest and the ionised effect in the air with the spray. Some lively bird song and flitting fantails were enchanting, along with sounds of falling water and the bubbling stream. A few sandflies :)
