The Sawyer Burn Track climbs through the forest to the bushline and has superb views of Lake Hwea and the surrounding mountains. Distance: 2.5km one way. Providing superb views of Lake Hwea and the surrounding mountains, the Sawyer Burn Track veers off the Kidds Bush Nature Walk and initially zigzags up through forest to the bushline before sidling (mostly at the same level) across to the Sawyer Burn Hut. The basic hut belonging to Hunter Valley Station is tucked into bush on the side of the hill. It remains shaded throughout the day. Sawyer Burn Track starts from the Kidds Bush Recreation Reserve campsite, 6 km along Meads Road turn off SH6 at The Neck. Be avalanche alert: This area has terrain that can produce avalanches that cross the track, usually from May into November. Dogs are not permitted.

Took me 3 hrs 50 mins to get to hut and back. A woman who passed me did it in 3 hrs. She must have been motoring. It's a real grunt to the top but with rewarding views.

Took us a bit more than 2 hours for getting to what we think was the same viewpoint than the picture. Elevation gain : 570m Length : around 3.5 (definitely not 2.5) Great views ! Notice : At the carpark it says 2hours one way, but on the Doc website 2hours return, so hard to pick the right info ^^'

Great 3h hike to a little summit with stunning views (I just went straight after the bushline instead of following the red post track)
