You need to do this hike, we have done a lot of hikes and this is one of our favourites. The hike is approx 6km return, we did this quite late and it was very shaded. The first part of the hike is magical seeing the stunning falls along the way and then after the boardwalk it gets quite steep, so be warned it's mostly up hill. When you get to the lake though, it's so worth it!!! The views are phenomenal, and the touch of snow on the mountains were a great sight to see. This hike is mainly shaded but bring heaps of water and be sun smart! I attempted this walk after doing key summit in the morning. I shouldn't have as this walk way harder!! Steep with rocks all the way. It does take the 3hrs + if your not young or really fit. My teenagers did it in the 3, but stayed longer up top because they said it was Amazing!! Wish I'd made it! You can just walk across the bridge to the lower falls if your not fit as a must do!!

Sorry this is late but went there last year, mid winter but sunny day. Not too easy but not hard either. 3 hours return, definitely worth the walk to dip in super cold pristine glacial lake. We didn't take togs or towels so was a skinny dipping extravaganza.
