UNSAFE. Locals banged on our caravan and then tried the doors, eventually opening the rear hatch (unfortunately we had accidentally left it unlocked). They demanded $50 and were yelling at us to go back to our own country. This was all at 4am. We left without giving them anything, and they hit the vehicle on the way out (it was a crowd of at least 20, many sounding quite drunk.) Where are NZ police when they are needed? Avoid this spot at all costs.

Not a bad place but the freedom camping area isn't clearly defined (no sign or anything). Right by the road. Quiet during the night though. A bit busy in the morning. Toilets are next to the tennis courts.
