We parked here at 8am and then hired kayaks for the day. Nice to know we had somewhere already to camp when we got back at around 3.30pm, even though there were still some spaces left at around 5.30pm-6pm. Our camper is around 5.3m, so over the limit but still pretty squat compared to others, and the guy that comes around let us stay. Had no idea you can't 'hang laundry' around your campervan in Kaikoura. We only had a couple of jackets and two bags drying after kayaking and were told to bring them in. They must really hate campers around here.

Lovely overnight stop. Right on the beach. Get here early, we arrived 11am and took the last slot as only 6 spaces. Need to vacate at 7am Max stay 1 night. Look for big blue campervan camping signs on the right as you drive in. Opposite end to the Whale shop. Information sign also says to avoid $400 fine camper must have a self contained certificate and not just blue sticker + "must have a toilet that you can use inside with sufficient head & elbow room even when the bed is made up" Short walk down a track on the right and across a bridge to the public toilets. Parking is free during the day and overnight.
