Otto/MacDonalds Campsite

3.9 from 22 users.

This 'standard' level DOC Campsite is a paid campground and offers outstanding lake, mountain, and forest views, lake swimming, plenty of shade and shelter, and grassy areas for tent camping. Camping in tents is allowed. Flush toilets, water (boil), and cooking/picnic shelters are available. Dogs are not permitted. It is accessible to bicycles, car campers, RVs, camper trailers and caravans. Big Rigs are better suited to the McDonald side where the turning circle/path is bigger. You must book in advance. Mobile coverage is limited and best at edge of lake on Otto side of campsite if you book online.

nice DOC campsite. Free for DOC campsite pass holders. Otherwise there's a fee. the campsite comes with flush toilets, 2 sinks to wash dishes and one to wash hands, tables and benches under a roof. there's also non drinking water point. Lots of sandflies

Facilities ok was raining a lot so did not really went outside of the camper.

Nice site, spotlessly clean toilets. Especially the field to the right is quite exposed and close to the highway, but we had no issue with noise. Several spots reserved for those with a booking, so book ahead if you want to be certain of a spot. Wasn't too full when we were there though. 10am checkout is more of a guideline according to the lovely groundsman, we left at 11:30 after a late breakfast without issue.
