Freedom camping permitted in CERTIFIED SELF-CONTAINED VEHICLES on weekdays ONLY. North Beach Car Park closed to camping at weekends. You may stay up to two nights in any 30 day period. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. Keep New Zealand clean. Always use the toilet in your vehicle or a public toilet.

It's closed from now on. A guy just notified me 400 dollars fine. Camping is 500m far away but NOT on the car park 1 October to 1 may.



Overnight stay next to the life saving club: street lights on at night, cars driving down the street right next to the parking. Busy in the morning: beach allowed for dogs and the coffee shed at the parking lot attract many people. Evening: life saving training. Means a lot of moving during the day in total. Two toilets, flush. No soap. One door cannot be bolted and this toilet has not seat, the other one does. Changing rooms. One cold exposed shower. Reception medium (4G, two bars, skinny) Not all parking along the coastal zone are allowed for camping, always lookout for a sign!



Night spots lights up at dark. But locals will honk horns in the morning as they don't like freedom campers. Library and pear close by
