Description

A basic two-bunk hut in the Hokitika area. This unique historic hut was built for government employed deer cullers and is the best surviving example of its type on the West Coast. There are no fees. Bookings not required - first come, first served Facilities heating, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use). Tracks to the hut: Toaroha/Zit Saddle/Kokatahi/Lathrop Saddle/Styx River Route. The Toaroha track begins approximately 25km inland from Hokitika.
