We slept there yesterday as well, without any problems. I check also the council site and found out that Hahei settlement is a prohibited camping area. But not sure if Hahei Beach car park also belongs to Hahei settlement?

We stayed here overnight in the area to the left of the toilets, where the walk to cathedral cove starts. No problems and had an early start on the 45 min walk to cathedral cove.
