Wifi turns off at 5pm. Would need to come completely prepared as it's just a fishing village without shops, reception or Petrol.

Very quiet and off the trek campsite. The black sand beach is worth the drive. Kiwicash required for entering the campsite! Make sure to bring everything you need for the stay. No shops, restaurants and even next petrol station is in Te Kuiti village. No reception but during our stay the Wifi was unlimited. 20 NZD powered/ night. Check out before 10 am or another 20 NZD will apply.

Cheap as chips! $20 per night for 4 people per camp site 7m x 7m! There are powered sites and non powered. No cabins or other accommodation. There are two toilet blocks with toilets and the showers are controlled by the KiwiCash fob key. This is a KiwiCash camp so you need to have a fob key (yellow tag) and preferably topped up with $$$ as the wifi is not reliable. There is a washing machine and communal fridge. The beach is right there but be careful with small kids as the current is fast. Better to swim with little ones in the estuary across from campground. Fishing is usually kahawai when they're running. Recent flooding has changed the river mouth. There isn't anyone to take your booking or make sure that if you booked online that you have an allocated site.
