Description
Camp on the shores of Lake Rerewhakaaitu; take binoculars for watching water birds. Bring your own water. Camping fees apply. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Pay cash on arrival at the self-registration stand at the campsite.
There are 30 non-powered/tent sites suitable for tents, campervans, motorhomes and caravans. Facilities include boat ramp, shelter for cooking, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use). Fires are not permitted at any time.
Turn off SH 5 into SH 38, then into Rerewhakaaitu Road for 2.7 km. Turn left into Brett Rd, follow to end. Turn right into Ash Pit Rd and follow the sealed road to camp.
No dogs.

No Water, dirty toilets

I think it once was nice. But its not cleaned anymore, and the water is off. They have had problems with vandalism.

Very busy place, has a boat ramp. Toilets are long drops, bring your own water. Lots of space for everyone swimming sucks. is muddy and shallow
