I camped here on a Friday night during school holidays. I expected more campers but I had the whole camping area to myself. Nice big grass area with lots of shade available. The toilets are incredibly clean and well lit at night. It's totally quiet at night with no traffic. There was one car though that drove through the camping area in the middle of the night, which was strange and a bit scary. I just heard him and didn't look. It might as well just be a police patrol car to make sure everything was ok. I wish there were more of these free rest areas in NZ for NON self contained vehicles like myself. If there was a donation box I'd be happy to donate and support for providing such an amazing and clean rest area.

Nice and clean facilities, but a lot of glass bottles and rubbish on the grass unfortunately... /!\\/!\\/!\\ Edit : spent a 2nd night there and something crazy happened ! Drunk guys took there UTE and send mud on our van while they were doing donuts !! I called the police and warned some guys from the rugby club ! /!\\ /!\\ /!\\

A nice grassy spot to park up, fairly level, but you are right at the rugby club. If it's a rugby night (it was on the Thursday night we were there) place will fill up with cars for 2-3 hours until about 9pm. Very bright security light by the toilets on all night. A decent night in the end but hopefully is useful to others to know the above. Washing up sink useful. Thanks!
