Keep an eye out for the sign 'Okahu Valley' once you reached Ngaputahi. It is the road just before the bridge on the right hand side if coming from Murupara (easier to miss if coming from the other direction... Take the road going left as you come off the bridge!)

A lot of space at this campsite, although the ground isn't even everywhere. A few picnic tables with pits for camp fire and many trees. 1 long drop toilet, would suggest having your toilet roll with you in case. Water from the stream. Take your rubbish with you. Must be a lovely place to stay at during the summer!

Unfortunately the road was damaged by storm and there is now a river crossing - we could not get to the free camp. Maybe when it is not raining but I would say not even then, without a proper 4x4
