To get power for your van/caravan, you have to park in the secured area, which is $10. So in practice, you pay $20 for power.

Great handy spot very clean and tidy great showers although everything gets wet due to the water pressure.. Also parking lanes are wrong way around if you have a caravan and want to back in. Not to noisy at all. Stay in powered site Also a nice Cafe at Rail Station great food

Good spot if you're looking to explore the tongariro National park. We stayed in the park and ride carpark as like everyone says, "secure" parking isn't really worth the money... Unless you really need the power. $10 to open the gate and $10 for the power (18hrs - w/kiwicash fob) so basically 20 bucks... But exactly what you would expect for a kiwicamp otherwise... Very clean and friendly locals, honestly didn't really notice the train at night but if you're a light sleeper maybe you will.... Gets pretty cold in the winter months as its a big open space but honestly can't complain!! (because there was the option of the free parking, if they get rid of that - I wouldn't stay haha)
