Description

TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO COVID-19 In Alert Level 2 Freedom Campers and people traveling within New Zealand are permitted to travel inter-regionally. However, Council-owned campgrounds and overnight parking areas will remain closed. People travelling in self-contained and non-self-contained vehicles should seek alternative accommodation. --------- This reserve can be accessed from Waimangu Road. This lake is an important wildlife habitat for water birds such as the grey teal, paradise shelduck and dabchick. The lake is popular for trout fishing and water-skiing. Water quality is not as good as other lakes in the area due to run-off from surrounding farms. It is however quite safe for recreational activities. Camping is permitted and fees apply. It is accessible to RVs, camper trailers and caravans. Camping in tents is allowed.

Do not go on the grass you will sink and get stuck. Stay on the concrete and you'll be fine. Great spot! @the.wandering.viking
