You have to pay in advance by calling the auckland city council (09) 366 2000 before 19:00. Then pay with your credit card. Took us 20mins so be prepared. You get a gate code but the gate has a key lock haha. We lifted the gate out of his hinges to get in.

Nice spot. No phone and no mobile reception. You can't pay there.

No one came to collect the fee so we stayed for free. Huge grassed area along the river, lots of shade, benches, tables and wood BBQs. 'No fire' sign but plenty of evidence of campfires. Flushing toilets. Only downside is that there were RATS running all over our campsite at night. Lock away all your food and trash.
