The hostel mood is like a funeral. Everybody is just on their mobile. Pretty clean but I think you can expect that for the price. No Smoking Area, you have to go pretty far for smoking!

Pro Tipp - use the shower for the disabled - it's huge as f*ck always empty and you have a whole room with hooks for your clothes and a mirror for yourself

I enjoyed my time here! This was the first place I stayed when I flew into NZ, so this is from the perspective of a fresh-off-the-plane gal. Like anywhere, it's all what you make of it. Lots of people travelling in groups, but solo folks as well. Staff are super helpful and kind, they let you use all the facilities if you get there before check-in. It's also right off of Queen street, and a short walk from grocery stores/bars/cell phone stores - anything you may need to help get you on your feet or stock up for your adventure.
