A unique accommodation complex, conveniently set in four acres of green, park-like grounds in Rotoruas wondrous backyard. Flanked by awesome sporting and recreational amenities, were just a hop, skip and jump from downtown Rotorua.
The Backyard Inn is an eclectic mix of lodge, camping and chalet-style accommodation, suitable for groups, families and travellers.
Accommodation options include:
29 chalets sleeping 2-4 people
64 lodge rooms sleeping 2-5 people
3 ensuite rooms sleeping 2-3 people
Chalets are private rooms. Each has its own bathroom, shower and toilet and is thermally heated for comfort. Double, twin, tripple or quad.
The Lodge is a thermally heated retreat for the discerning budget traveller. There are 64 lodge rooms all with individual access. Bathrooms, toilets and showers are centralised for convenience. A range of configurations to suit any group size from two to five people.

Agree with comments below: noisy (it seems like it's mandatory to have a least one junior rugby team staying) and amenities are a little tired. Simple private room very small and cell like. However atmosphere good and everything was clean.

A bit pricey considering the amenity is dated/1 of 3 door lock is broken/ 3 of 4 toilet paper boxes are broken/and without power point( if you need hair dryer), campsite become quite muddy during raining days. Will try to stay somewhere far from city, or just freedom camping.

Bin zufrieden. Parkplatz vorhanden und im Zimmer war ich alleine. Allerdings gibt es nichts zum versperren und die Zimmer sind wirklich klein. Küche dafür gross. Poolbilliard Tische komplett hinüber. Dusche schön heiss und ein kleiner Thermalpool ist inklusive. Zum Rosegarden und Gouverners Park ist es ca. 20 min. zu fuss. Gute Lage.
