Description

From the caves, a 2-km walk leads you through a picturesque karst limestone landscape across farmland and regenerating bush to a point where you can take in the magnificent views. Within the entrance to the caves themselves, you will find stalactites, stalagmites and glow worms. The caves are wet and slippery inside. The inner cave area is suitable for experienced cavers only. A torch and suitable footwear are necessary. Sinkholes are a common feature of karst landscapes. Stay on the track and closely supervise small children. Although classed as a Walking Track, the track is not always well formed. The track is wet, muddy and slippery at times. It is suitable for people of most ages and fitness levels. Dogs are not permitted.

Very nice cave and for free ! I went with slippers and a shirt because the water goes to my knee. Take a torch and the showers are not working

Just went there at 9:30am. Much better than Waitomo and it's for free! Locals love to come here, as they'd never pay any money for caves and glow worms The caves start 1 minute walk from the car park. It says 45 minute walk, but it's another walk, I didn't do this. In the cave you'll see first a small lake, you have to go through to the left and the go deeper and deeper. Sometimes you have to duck down for a short while as it's getting narrow. Although all caves have glow worms, the third cave is the best one. I didn't get dirty at all, the water is very clean and the cave it's just a bit slippery sometimes. I walked in slippers, water was max. up to my knees, that's all. So I came out clean. No shower needed. (Shower not working). Adventure feeling! Remember to have strong torches !

Amazing!! We went a 3pm and you need to go further in the Caves to see a thousand of glowomrs. It was very slippery and you need to cross on water so take jandals and clothes you don't care about.
