Definitely worth to visit! Nice during the day and magical in the night. Track down is very short - few mins down to the creek and then another few mins upstream to reach entrance of the tunnel. I would recommend to take neoprene socks and crocs or gumboots as u will definitely get wet. Max creek depth is about 30 cm. Waterproof jacket will help as well as the water is raining down from tunnel ceiling at many spots. Plus lamp if u're going after dark for sure. First worms are starting to glow before the dusk but it gets more and more intense when it's dark. It's heaps of them there and the ceiling is like a milky way when u're there in the night. Just magical. Top!

We went down at night in pouring rain. The road was fine even when wet. The cave is amazing! Full of worms and the further end looks grand with the bush's backdrop in the moonlight. We took the Manawatu scenic route, stunning hills in the sunrise! Definitely bring footwear which you don't mind getting wet.

We visit the cave at 2pm. Dont do that! We dont see any glowworms, its to bright in the cave. The way to the cave was cool but you need definitley gumboots! Parking is okay if you are alone there. Place for two cars.
