Description

If you want to freedom camp in Tauranga, you must be in a self-contained vehicle that clearly displays NZS5465:2001 certification. There are two spaces at Taylor Reserve. You may stay a maximum of two nights. If you freedom camp in a permitted location, it must be in the designated area. If the designated area is inaccessible due to infrastructure works, you may not park nearby. You can only stay in any one location for two nights per calendar month. You must park legally and comply with noise requirements. Freedom camper vehicles also need to be self-contained.

Great spot. We stayed one night, beautifull beach around the corner. Wake up with a swim, cold shower nearby (and clean public toilets).

Don't mess around parking outside the 2 designated spots.. I decided to take the risk and park and stay overnight outside the 2 designated parking spots, becaouse I was also unlucky in the 3 previous campergrounds I tried.. I thought only one night.. on a super rainy Thursday should be fine.. but nope.. it was not fine.. I was fined 😅 ($200)

Reserved parking is for 2 sc motorhomes, but is there a permanent place for one fisherman's motor home, so there is only one place left. The night was quiet here, but people drive here to just sit in their cars with their phones in their hands and turn on the lights for an hour. Toilets, a cold shower (the people from the villas around are looking at you... I haven't tested whether it works) and drinking water are nearby.
