Description

This is a standard 6-bunk hut located in Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tne Conservation Park in the East Coast region. Built for deer cullers in 1952, Rogers Hut is one of only three remaining slab-beech huts in the Urewera Range. Fees apply. Bookings not required - first come, first served. Facilities include heating, mattresses, non-flush toilets and water (not treated - boil before use). Rogers Hut is constructed of matai studs and plates with interior walls of slab beech. Located amidst outstanding scenery - close to the river and surrounded by native bush. Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, yellow for youth) for each night's stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. Or buy a Backcountry Hut Pass that gives unlimited use at most Standard and Serviced huts for a 6 or 12-month period.
