The birds were hard to see but there were feeding times so you may be able to see more of them at these times. There is a nice 4km walk along the ridge line which is part of the park. Not difficult at all.

I'm Hungry

We did not stay here but the $22 walk of the forest was absolutely amazing. It's a breeding centre and even though they are in captivity you know they will be released soon. We saw all the karikis, kahurangu the kokako, kiwis, tuataras, about 20-30 kakas in the wild during the kaka talk and heaps of geckos. Toilets outside and small cafe inside. About an hour to do the walk at very slow pace.

Legacy Data

Great place to explore and we met a kaka and a kokako
