Description

Freedom camping permitted in CERTIFIED SELF-CONTAINED VEHICLES ONLY. Secluded quiet site with plenty of flat areas. There is a flash flood risk due to a hydro dam upstream. Also some slip prone cliffs over here stream. Probably good swimming in fine weather. Is used as an aggregate store by the local council so could be noisy on weekdays. Tararua has a permissive policy allowing freedom camping by self-contained motorcaravans on all Council land, with the following provisions: - Towed caravans are permitted provided that they are self-contained. - No tent camping shall be permitted. - Overnight parking by self-contained motor caravans will be allowed except in prohibited areas. - Permits shall not be necessary. - Camping is permitted in reserves managed by boards at their discretion. - Long term camping is not permitted. - Owners shall be required to abide by the Council's dog control policy and by-law in force. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. Keep New Zealand clean. Always use the toilet in your vehicle or a public toilet.
