We saw a few kiwis at night. Definitely a popular spot. There were many campers and on the weekends it can definitely get full. A few jetskis/motor boats disturb the silence/peacefulness of the reserve. Amazing walks and even a little shower. Leave a donation. The work that is done there is truly amazing.

Beautifully place ! Maybe the best place to spot kiwi at night (bring a torch with red light! ). It's a Nature reserve fully fenced and predator free so the wildlife is amazing! SC, NSC and tents allowed. The gate is open 24/7 there are toilets (open in the night) there even is an outdoor shower, free WIFI and a small information room with lots of information about the project and the wildlife. Leave a donation so they can keep up the good work. Definitely a recommendation for everyone who is into nature :).

Lovely spot. Gated reserve, just have to push the button to open the gates. No dogs. 6 vehicles or tents per night (although when we stayed there was at least 10). Max 3 night stay. Flushing toilets and outdoor shower. Lots of bird life and could hear kiwis at night. Free but there is a donation box and it's definitely worth a donation. Free wifi!!!! Open to SC, NSC and tents. All 3 have designated areas. The NSC vehicle parking isn't flat. 1.5hour loop track around the lake. Visitor centre with interesting information about the wildlife.
