I tried to come after closing hours, no car parked here so turned around and went further. But museum looks so nice according to the plan outside so will come definitely back :)

We arrived 30 min before Museum closing and ask the nice lady at counter if we can stay the night. She agreed. Just few cars passed by as the carpark is on a side of the road, otherwise it was calm night. Toilets are nearby - opened all night. In the morning we went to the Museum, which we higly recommend ! BUT, take your jumper with you. There was like 15°C inside. The Coffee shop on the opposite site of the road is also awesome.

Nice quiet spot. Public toilet across from museum beside church. Nice café across the road. Not super scenic but good spot to spend night on way north. Waste bins available. Kauri Museum is a MUST to any Northland visit- great display about the hardy life of Bushmen pioneers & their giant Kauri mates.
