Huka Falls Road, Rangatira Park, Taup 3384, North Island.

Very popular campsite located on the edge of the Waikato River on Huka Falls Road. It has basic toilet facilities and a large number of campsites. There is no power and water can be taken from the river but should be boiled before drinking. A dish washing facility is available so campers do not wash dishes in the river. All campers, including those in certified self-contained vehicles, can stay for a maximum of three nights and/or four days in any 14 night period. Different spot for winter and summer only 50m apart. Take all rubbish with you and leave no trace. Keep New Zealand clean. Always use the toilet in your vehicle or a public toilet.

I stayed here again after some time. I love this spot. Safe, plenty of space, portable toilets close by, another toilets by the river. Acces to the river which is awesome in the night or early in the morning to refresh yourself.

When you turn off the main road, the gate straight ahead is the campsite - the gate round to the right doesn't allow camping and gets locked at 6pm. A guy from the council arrived and told us we had to move before the gates locked (the signs also say no camping in vans or tents). The actual camp site is huge, not all of it is flat. There are portaloos but you can walk to the drop toilets in the car park next door where there is a dishwashing station too. 4G coverage is good. Overall the site is a bit run down and bit of a free-for-all.

its a car park by 5pm. Plenty of clean toilets. Port a porty style. Little bit of mix of people. Plenty of room. Walk down to river which is lovely.
