Short section of gravel road and stream ford. This is a 45 minute drive from Wellington. Walk along the Five Mile Loop Track for about 15 minutes to find the campsite. Pay fees at the Catchpool Valley Campsite entrance or the Wellington Visitor Centre. Risk of treefall during high winds. Due to a high number of dead and dying trees in this area, camping is not recommended in windy weather.

There is no patch of grass to pitch the tents so you have to find a spot between the trees which are quite sparse. Very quite place, no noise except the stream and the birds. There are even some fire pits.
